We are currently looking for a Junior School Well-being Counsellor to join our Student Well-being department at BSS. Our Junior School Well-being Counsellor will expertly navigate the social and emotional life of girls and the overall well-being of students. They will work closely with our Junior School faculty, faculty advisors, student leaders and school leadership to build engaging, relevant and culturally responsive social-emotional learning with a focus on inclusion. Our Counsellors offer educational workshops, support faculty/staff understanding of student mental health factors and skills related to well-being, and ensure timely crisis intervention and referrals to relevant resources. Moreover, they oversee well-being programs, support student conflict resolution, aid in transitions between grade levels, and manage medical condition accommodations, all while maintaining strict confidentiality and holistic student support.

Who You Are

  • Ontario Teaching Certificate and Guidance and Special Education Specialist preferred
  • Education experience related to well-being eg. Master of Social Work, Child and Youth Worker, Certificate of Applied Positive Psychology or Positive Educator’s Certificate
  • Expertise in working with students who are neurodiverse
  • Passion and desire to continually learn about the mental wellbeing and social emotional lives of young children and pre-teenagers, and girls, in particular
  • Culturally competent with a positive attitude toward cultural uniqueness and a readiness to accept and respect others
  • Demonstrated commitment to valuing diversity and contributing to an inclusive working and learning environment
  • A growth mindset of continuous improvement and learning
