We are seeking a Research assistant to join our Breathomic's Research team at the BC Cancer Research Institute with a focus on early lung cancer detection through breath. Our research focuses on the effect air pollution has on the development of lung cancer. We are seeking someone highly organized and detail-oriented with experience interacting with participants over the phone and in person. The Ideal candidate for his position will have experience calling and scheduling participants appointments as this role will entail recruiting, scheduling, and completing research participants into a large trial.

What you'll do

Photocopy and maintains study materials for staff and study participants.
Maintain current filing in the all study offices. Manually files forms, reports and pathology results in participant charts and performs other office filing as assigned. Converts study charts for storage.
Create clinical trials and new participant chart packs, and assists project coordinator and research staff as necessary with other requirements.
Fill out routine and preliminary information on laboratory and OR forms.
Log and file specimen slides into storage cabinets and pulls slides for analysis or additional study as requested.

What you bring

Qualifications:
A level of education, training, and experience equivalent to completion of Grade 12, plus one (1) year's recent related experience.

You have:
Ability to type at 50 wpm and use Microsoft Word at a beginner to intermediate level.
Ability to deal and communicate effectively both verbally and in writing with other staff and study participants.
Ability to organize work.
Familiarity with medical or scientific terminology an asset
Have commitment to upholding the shared responsibility of creating lasting and meaningful reconciliation in Canada as per TRC (2015) and BC's Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples Act (2019).
Knowledge of social, economic, political and historical realities impacting indigenous communities and familiarity with Indigenous Cultural Safety and anti-racism and accompanying reports (BC DRIPA, TRC, etc.).

Job Type: Temporary, Full-Time (Until May 5, 2025)

Salary Range: $42,483- $55,759. The starting salary for this position would be determined with consideration of the successful candidate's relevant education and experience, and would be in alignment with the provincial compensation reference plan. Salary will be prorated accordingly for part time roles.
