With a commitment to sustainability, equity, diversity and inclusion, Ancillary Services works with partners to provide effective experiences and enhance the quality of campus life in alignment with the University's core values.Reporting to the Manager, Housing Administration, the Assistant Manager, Off-Campus Housing role is a key driver of the University's Strategic Enrolment Management initiative, which enables the University to increase the attraction and retention of international and out-of-province students. This role plans for and coordinates off-campus housing services, resources, and support offered to York University incoming and current students, including Markham campus student housing allocations. The role supports students seeking off-campus housing accommodations including the coordination of related resources and managing the website and programs to support students with searches for and maintenance of off-campus housing. The role collaboratively liaises with various university partners, on-campus housing staff, landlords, and local municipalities to support students in finding off-campus housing.The role respects diversity and promotes inclusion in the workplace and contributes to an inclusive and diverse team-based, positive work environment. Education:
- Post-secondary diploma.
Experience:
- 3 years' recent related experience.
- 1 year management or supervisory experience.
- Experience in housing / hospitality, property management, lease administration, or immigration services using a computerized database management system.
- Experience delivering high levels of customer service and student student-centric focus in a university environment.
Skills:
Knowledge
- Knowledge of computerized business applications specializing in student records databases, online applications, and web-based services.
- Knowledge of legislation applicable to the Residential Tenancy Act in Ontario.
- Knowledge of marketing social media and web applications.Skills
- Effective business and communication skills.
- Able to quickly evaluate and resolve complex issues or conflicts, such as tenant/landlord concerns and service complaints related to providing ancillary services.
- Effective planning, organization, negotiation, mediation, and customer service skills.
- Ability to organize department work requirements in an efficient and effective manner.
- Able to work collaboratively with other campus partners.
- Ability to effectively manage multiple priorities.
- Ability to exercise tact, diplomacy, and good judgment.
- Proficient in word-processing (MS Word), spreadsheets (MS Excel), and E-mail (MS Outlook).
- Presentation (MS PowerPoint) and database (MS Access) skills.
Additional Notes:
- Normal office work environment.
- On occasion:o may need to tour building complexes on and off-campus.o may be contacted after-hours in emergency situations.
