Position Title: Clearance Officer

Job Type: Regular Part Time (RPT)

Hours: up to 24 hours per week

Faculty/Department: Faculty of Health Sciences and Wellness (FHSW)

Campus/Location: North Campus

Salary: PT Support Payband 8 $24.99 (min) - $38.45 (max)

What you will do:

Under the general direction of and reporting to the Operations Manager, Nursing PSW WIL, the incumbent, a registered health care provider provides comprehensive health education on pre-requsite medical and non-medical requirements. Screen all medical and non-medical requirements prior to placement. They also conduct Pre-requisite screening services including mask fit testing to all students in the Faculty of Health Sciences and Wellness (FHSW). The incumbent ensures that students are prepared and have met all of the medical and non–medical pre-requisites required of a placement setting, as outlined in affiliation agreements, partnering with the faculty to provide students with practice based education. All data collected is entered into a secure site for periodic review by the Clearance Officer to ensure that the student remains in compliance with requirements as outlined in the affiliation agreements. The incumbent conducts their work in a confidential manner mindful and compliant with legislation around health records and personal health information in PHIPA 2004 and FIPPA 2012.

What you will bring to the role:

Education & Experience

  • 3/4year diploma/degree plus professional certification, or equivalent in Registered Practical Nurse registered with the College of Nurses of Ontario
  • The Canadian Paediatric Society - Education Program for Immunization Competencies (EPIC) course, CPR, Mental health first aid, Crisis Prevention, IB Phlebotomy
  • Experience working in primary care/acute care with immunization/Phlebotomy programs Strong critical thinking and problem solving skills. Ability to communicate effectively using multiple modalities
