Stantec's Geotechnical Engineering and Materials Testing group provides comprehensive geotechnical services to our clients, ranging from field explorations and laboratory testing to the engineering analysis, design recommendations and construction inspection services of complex geotechnical projects. This is where great people and great ideas truly make a difference. Our office with 20 geotechnical professionals and technical support staff provide specialized services on large projects in the field of geotechnical engineering. We have geotechnical and geological engineers on staff specializing in complex soil mechanics problems, and resolving earthworks/construction challenges, setting Stantec apart from other consultants. Design with community in mind

Stantec’s Edmonton office has an opening for one Co-op work term student ( Geotechnical Engineering / Materials Testing). In this role the candidate will have the opportunity to exercise their technical and interpersonal skills while gaining valuable experience required for their career in engineering.

Responsibilities may include but are not limited to the following:

  • Conducting materials testing and inspection services during construction
  • Assisting senior staff with the completion of geotechnical investigations which will include both field and office based work
  • Developing technical skills by assisting the senior staff with various geotechnical analyses
  • Assisting senior staff with the preparation of technical proposals and reports

Qualifications

As a Geotechnical Engineering Co-Op Student, you will possess the following:

  • Can demonstrate that you are well organized, shows initiative and is eager to learn
  • Ability to travel as this position may require traveling outside of Edmonton, Alberta
  • Valid Driver’s License and must be willing to provide a driver’s abstract for review
  • Experience in geotechnical related work such as drilling investigations, laboratory testing, on-site construction activities, supporting design of deep/shallow foundations and slope stability would be considered an asset
