Women’s Initiatives for Safer Environments (WISE) is a dynamic, feminist charitable organization working with the Ottawa community to improve the safety of public spaces for women and other vulnerable members of the community. WISE is looking for individuals interested in making a difference in community safety for all vulnerable people in Ottawa to join our Board of Directors.
DescriptionWISE is looking for members of the community to join our Board of Directors. Board members attend monthly board meetings, and sit on Board subcommittees. Board members are also expected to attend some of WISE's events.
WISE believes its Board of Directors should be representative of the community it serves. To that end, WISE is especially interested in receiving applications from individuals with a commitment to ending systematic oppression who are / identify as:
● Having lived experience of violence
● Black
● Indigenous
● Having a disability
● A member of a racial and/or ethnic community
● Part of the LGBTQ2S+ community
● Part of the francophonie community
● Being at the intersection of any or all of the above mentioned.
