The annual pay range for teachers is $61,522 to $108,126, with placement on the range based on experience and qualifications in accordance with the collective agreement.

Trafalgar Middle School has a vacancy for a 1.0 FTE Term Grade 9 English and Social Studies Teacher. The successful applicant for this position will be responsible for working in a pod-model with a partnering Grade 9 teacher. The successful applicant will be responsible for delivering the English and Social Studies curriculum to two groups of students while the partnering teacher will be responsible for Math and Science. Other core areas such as Physical and Health Education and Careers would be part of this assignment.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor of Education (Elementary or Middle) with a middle/ secondary focus

• Certified with Teacher Regulation Branch

Teachers applying for this position must possess the following attributes:

• Willingness to work closely with parents;

• Capacity to work collaboratively with colleagues;

• Excellent classroom management skills;

• Knowledge of current instructional practices and curriculum, including the SD8 Inclusion Model;

• Knowledge and active use of Shelley Moore framework;

• Strong interpersonal, communication and collaboration skills;

• Recent, demonstrated successful experience in a middle or secondary school setting;

• Excellent organizational skills and a demonstrated ability to be flexible;

• Familiarity with social-emotional learning and trauma-informed practices;

• Have a vision for creating an inclusive, dynamic, and engaging middle school shop program.

The ideal candidate will be expected to:

• Coordinate and deliver services for diverse learners;

• Demonstrate ability to use differentiated instruction to meet the learning needs of diverse learners;

• Implementing inclusion supports and recommendations in the IEP in the classroom

• Participate in on-going professional development and develop a personal growth plan

• Work in an atmosphere of collaboration with staff to build consistency and quality of programs

• Communicate effectively with staff and parents

• Be familiar with the BC Ed plan, school district board goals and school goals

• Implement school wide strategies to support the school board’s student expectations, school and class needs

• Demonstrate knowledge of using technology to support student learning
