Job Description

As a Quality Assurance Inspector at Smiths Interconnect you will inspect products, processes, equipment and employees to ensure compliance with the company’s regulatory policies, procedures and specifications. The person ensures that all products leaving the facility meet our quality standards and our customer’s expectations/requirements. You will also be required to work in a clean room environment with appropriate protective garments

Duties & Responsibilities

  • In line inspection and data collection
  • Incoming inspection of raw materials
  • Final/outgoing inspection
  • Corrective action initiation and resolution
  • Assist with supplier evaluation
  • Assists in ISO audits (internal and registrar)
  • Works using key cards, written procedures, manuals, drawings and other verbal and written instructions detailing product performance criteria.
  • Ability to work with highly sensitive and delicate equipment to ensure all our products are tested/sorted and within specifications.
  • Visual inspection of products (possibly using microscope) to company specifications.
  • Some mechanical assembly to finalize product after determining performance/quality criteria.
    • Serialization of product
    • Custom labeling
  • Ability to follow documented data collection process and store appropriate data as needed.
  • Preparing Certificates of Compliance and any other customer requested test information
  • Putting finished product into pre-pack boxes / trays for transfer to Stores
  • Accomplish shipping targets as established by the company
  • Other tasks as assigned

The Individual

  • Technician’s degree or better in a relevant discipline (Electrical Engineering, Electronics, Photonics, etc.) and at least 3 years of experience related to Quality Assurance
  • Candidates must be energetic, proactive and be a team player that can take ownership of their tasks
  • A high degree of concentration and close visual attention for sustained periods as well as very close attention to details.
  • Advanced organizational skills and time management
  • Communicate in English & French (spoken and written)
  • Microsoft Office skills (Word/Excel/Outlook)
  • Experience in an optical design, assembly or optical test laboratory
  • Knowledge of micro-electronics Hybrid (chip & wire assembly, ceramics, etc.)
  • In-line inspection experience (Quality Assurance)
  • In-line test experience in a production environment
